Studio Insider Newsletter: December

Special Edition: Sneak Peak at being a Studio Insider

Every month, we send a special Studio Insider newsletter out to the folks who are an active part of our Miami studio’s ecosystem! The purpose of this newsletter is to keep our Studio Insiders (studio members, staff, interns, and resident artists) in the loop on what’s happening at the studio in the coming month. It’s meant to be a bare-bones rundown to help you maximize your studio time and help you stay on top of deadlines, deals, and events. This email only goes out to the folks who we know might need it. Keep an eye out for it in your inbox!

This month, we’re sending it as our main newsletter, too! With Miami Art Week right around the corner and the holidays arriving in full force, we figure:

  1. Nobody has time to read a whole long thing

  2. A nuts-and-bolts email telling you what’s happening and when is supremely useful to everyone on our email lists right now!

If you love this very practical newsletter, you can become a studio insider by getting involved here! Become a member or apply for a residency or internship as soon as you’re ready.

We will be closed on the following dates:

  • Thurs, Nov 28 (Thanksgiving)

  • Fri, Nov. 29

  • Dec. 2-8 — By appointment only. Email info@isprojectsfl.com to make an appointment. Please give us 24 hours to review your request.

  • Dec. 31-Jan 1 (New Years)

Otherwise, we plan to maintain our ordinary Tuesday-Friday 11AM-7PM business hours.

Two copies of Our First Portfolio exchange, Under the Sun. One Copy is is open to reveal the Holographic front of the colophon, and The first two prints, in the box. The first, left, is by Christian Feneck, and the second, right, is by Brian Butler.

PORTFOLIO EXCHANGE SIGN-UP DEADLINE IS NOV. 30!

What’s a portfolio exchange?

A portfolio exchange is a tradition in the print world. There is often a unifying theme or set of constraints proposed, and a list of artists are invited to participate. Every artist who participates will submit an edition of prints in the specified quantity, and in exchange, will receive back one print from every edition submitted by every artist participating.

This tradition is all about community and sharing, and is one of the coolest ways for artists to collect work from (and make work for!) other artists with whom they have something in common.

So what’s the deal with this exchange?

In this case, the official exchange invite will go out to a long list of artists who have been involved here at the studio since our last exchange. This includes all studio members, interns, and artists-in-residence since after our last exchange invitation went out. The invitations for this exchange were sent via email on Nov. 18th from brooke@isprojectsfl.com

If you didn’t receive that email and you want to participate in this year’s exchange, become a studio member!

The details:

The title of the exchange: Spare Change

Print Size: 11x14”

Edition Size: We’ll know how large the editions need to be once we have a headcount.

I’m already a Studio Insider and this sounds awesome! What do I do?

MEMBERS: PICK UP YOUR ANNUAL PRINT!

Members may recall that they have been promised an annual print for every year of membership, and it’s time we get those prints into your hands. For 12 months of membership, you can choose one print from the selection we’ve put together in a special drawer in the front. It includes prints which use a whole bunch of different techniques and from a wide range of time and artists in our history printing here.

Additionally, if you have a few cool prints kickin’ around that you would rather have living in the collection of our loving community members, please reach out to Brooke (via email at brooke@isprojectsfl.com) to arrange to donate some prints to the annual print drawer. Someone may use their credit to take your print home — yet another beautiful instance of community exchange here.

To get your print, all you have to do is pop in during our business hours. The drawer is in our Museum Store up front, and if you tell us you’re here to pick up your annual print(s), we’ll help you browse and send you home with art!

LEARN + MAKE

There’s only one more workshop in 2024!

And it’s focused on setting type by hand and printing — what could be more special? We have a few cooked up for 2025 and there will be more on our website soon, but for now… This is your last chance to check a workshop with us off of your 2024 bucket list!

Can’t make it? Want to learn something else?

You can always set up Private Instruction to learn at a time that works better for your schedule — just add one of the ones we have ready-to-go to your cart and check out through our website to book yours. We’ll reach out to schedule your private workshop ASAP. If you want to set up Private Instruction for something a little more off-the-beaten-path, you can still absolutely do so through this link. Members: You get 20% off on all Private Instruction! Search your emails from us for your code. If you’re purchasing through the website, use your member code at checkout. Members will find that scheduling Assisted Studio Time is more practical for one-on-one learning, but Private Instruction lets you set up a workshop for you and up to three other folks. As long as a member is booking the workshop, the discount applies to the whole purchase! We want it to be easy for you to share the things you love with the people around you.

Not a member? Not a problem. You can still absolutely get set up to learn something through Private Instruction, you just won’t get that discount. If you’re not sure if you’d like membership, Private Instruction is a great way to test drive it!

Members only: Book your Studio Pass

  • We now offer Members-Only Studio Passes for either 7-day or 30-day time periods — you set the start date with us! We can only support 4 Studio Passes at a time — if you know you’ve got a busy month coming up, reserve yours ASAP.

  • Open Studio Sessions are posted through June! Members can reserve their spots in a session by purchasing it on our website.
