THE SUMMER SIZZLE!
When the studio first opened in 2014, we expected our summers to be pretty slow due to the seasonal nature of South Florida’s population. So we planned classes, events, and other fun projects to take place during the summer and year after year we find that the summer ends up being one of the most productive seasons at the studio. This year is no exception!
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made it out to the reception for Into the Fold at Coral Springs Museum of Art last week. The amount of people who made the trek out to see the culmination of the past 6 years of our hard work with the Existent Books project meant the world. If you missed it, or can’t make it to Coral Springs be sure to check out our IG live curators’ conversation coming up on Thursday, August 5th at 6pm! Sammi and Ingrid will be discussing the exhibition and the project from the museum and studio so we’ll take you on a walk around the show and a tour around the shop tying together the books and the process.
We also want to say a big thank you to our first official Skills Exchange Resident Amanda Thackray who travelled all the way from New Jersey to make handmade paper using water from the Fort Lauderdale Beach and share her screen monoprinting skills in our first official in person classes!
We’re having a bit of a soft opening this month with scheduled classes on the calendar so if you are looking to get more involved at the studio, exploring all things print, paper and book, be sure to check out our new learn page for more info or continue reading below!

Fresh Prints presents a collection of prints and artists' books from a group of local artists working at every level and from every discipline, on IS Projects’ presses week after week. Through varied approaches to printmaking, exhibited works highlight the core techniques taught in our studio each month, including letterpress printing, screen printing, book binding, intaglio and relief. The exhibited artists explore their personal narratives, political anxieties, and relationship to nature through the lens of contemporary printmaking. Whether revisiting the press after decades away, learning how to pull a print for the very first time, or coming to printmaking from another medium, the studio creates common ground for each artist to hone their craft.
Featuring works by
Kylie Aylies, Jennifer Broutin Farah, Amber Frank,
Caro Gutierrez, Nickole Maurstad, Cristina Müller,
Alexandra Riesco, Leah Roobin, Coral Rose,
Jay Sylvestre, Abby Wang & William de Yampert

MEET THE NEW SELIKOFF POSTER
Antique Ornamented!
This poster features Antique Double Outline Half Ray and Half Solid Shade AKA Antique Ornamented, a popular face in the 1800s. Antique ornamented was first presented by William H Page in the 1849 catalogue. The bold design creates a sense that the letters are leaping out at you from the page so we designed a poster that celebrates the optimistic coming out that the summer of 2020 felt like. The specimen takes the form of a word search with sunny summer fun words that can be found throughout the poster.
