Screenprinting Basics

from $150.00

Instructor: Chee Bravo

Weekend-long course meeting on the following dates:

Saturday, April 19, Noon-6PM - Coating screens and burning screens

Sunday, April 20, Noon-6PM - Printing

Participants in this two-day long weekend course will start with an idea or an image, and will leave with a small edition of screenprints. Skills addressed include screen preparation, registration, printing, and editioning.

Screenprinting is one of the most well-known and versatile forms of fine art printmaking. This technique can be used to print anything from gig posters to t-shirts to fine art prints. Participants will prepare and burn screens and print an edition of their own prints.

This workshop is limited to 4 participants so everyone will receive specific and personal instructions and assistance. It is designed not only to produce an edition but to also instill a foundation of basic screenprinting knowledge so that all participants can do this process on their own later on. All necessary materials will be provided, however, you are welcome to bring anything you'd like to print on (for example: blank t-shirts, old magazine pages, aprons, napkins, etc.)

We provide materials for the workshop, and typically, participants just use our screens. Participants may choose to purchase their own brand new screens through us for $45 more to take home and keep. If you select this option, you will take home ONE new aluminum-framed 23”x31” 230 mesh screen with your image burned onto it at the end of the workshop.

Materials included:

  • 9x12” screen printing paper

  • Ink

  • All necessary consumables including: emulsion, film, tracing paper, cleaning supplies, gloves, etc

Participants must send the image they want to print as a .jpeg, .tiff, or .pdf to brooke@isprojectsfl.com with the subject line SCREENPRINTING BASICS by April 11 to ensure their files are prepped before the workshop.
