The Full Access Residency Program provides one artist at a time with 24/7 access to any of the equipment in our common studio space as well as an on-site private studio. This residency is available by rolling application on a limited basis. Applications which address a need for specific equipment in our facilities will be prioritized, but we are very open to your ideas about how best to use your time with us, so long as your proposal is safe for our equipment and for a collaborative studio environment. We do not expect any particular product or outcome from resident artists in this program. Artists in this program are free to experiment or to execute a planned project – it is up to them.

We provide:

  • 24/7 access to a 180 square foot private studio space with two 35” glass doors and a window into the front room.

  • 24/7 access to the common printmaking and book arts studio space, including use of any equipment you are trained and authorized to use upon arrival.

  • Paper and plates provided at-cost

  • Etching, relief, and letterpress ink

  • Screen printing emulsion

  • Newsprint

  • Cleaning supplies

  • Use of select screens

  • 50% discount on assisted studio time during the residency

  • 50% discount on scheduled workshops during the residency

  • One two hour strategy session with IS Projects Staff per week, every week during the residency.

Related Programming: Residents are also invited to propose programming concurrent with their residency, and will be appropriately compensated for any programming that they run. Examples of programming we would like to hear proposals for include workshops, mentoring sessions with our studio members, and artist talks. Programming proposals do not affect our evaluation of your residency application.

Funding and Scheduling:

The Full-Access Residency is structured as a self-funded residency. We are happy to support applicants pursuing external financial support through grants or other organizations in any way we can.

Residency cost:

2 week Full-Access Residency // $1500

One month Full-Access Residency // $3000

Two month Full Access Residency // $5000

We do not want the cost of this residency to dissuade qualified applicants, and we encourage all interested artists to apply. Please indicate in your application if you would like to request financial support from us. Indicating a need for financial support does not impact our evaluation of your application. Financial support is extremely limited at this time and cannot be guaranteed to all who request it.

Vicky Saniesteban: 2023

Vicky Santiesteban grew up on the outskirts of the Everglades where she learned to cut sugarcane, catch snakes, and build forts. Using the bark from Melaleuca trees, she created her first handmade books of poetry. She went on to study literature, earned her masters degree, and is now a professor of English at Broward College. Her residency is funded by an endowment from the Knight Foundation.

During her residency, Vicky will further her study of screen printing and is working on a concertina book of her poem "The Architecture of Dreams." The poem examines omission, grief, fear, and surrender. After years of publishing her poems in journals and magazines, Vicky is excited to reexamine her craft and design ways of creating visual interpretations of her work.
